Log 16: Rewrote the movement and tail systems


Trifoil is an underdevelopment puzzle/exploration game which takes influence for The Witness and Knot Theory. It's due to be released late 2022 on itch.io and steam. In the mean time follow Trifoil development as I take it from a prototype to a full featured Indie game by following me on itch.io or twitter. With that out of the way enjoy the devlog.

Hey people, boy I've been slack writing blog posts. But the good news is:

Trifoil has had the biggest refactor since the prototype was released back in April. I've removed the mouse input and replace it with keyboard and controller input. I think this suites the grid style game better. This has simplified allot of things internally. As part of the movement system rewrite I've also rewrote how the tail works. Resulting in a much cleaner looking tail (still needs work though). Other things I added are "R" key to reset and "Z" key to undo. Staples of grid based puzzle games. With the new input system "Z" to undo was trivial. With mouse input it would have been allot harder.

So looking at my todo list for the alpha there is pretty much only content creation left to do. Which pleases me allot. We might be on track for an alpha release mid Jan.
