Freeform Mechanic
This week I've been working on the freeform bridge puzzle mechanic. This mechanic turns the previous puzzles on their head by allowing the player to make bridges at any point on the grid. The puzzle comes from having a set number of freeform elements to use and they must use them all. Designing freeform puzzles has been challenging as I'm still learning the implicit rules of this mechanic myself. So far the prototype 12 freeform bridge puzzle and a couple of the puzzles need work. I plan to implement one more difficult level freeform bridge puzzle before moving on to the last prototype mechanic freeform twists!
With the freeform puzzle being underdevelopment, I can see the light at the end of tunnel for the prototype phase of the game. My next prototype will be the last prototype release. But I need to spend a bit more time fleshing out the prototype into a small but "complete" game and showing it to more people. The next phase of he game development will be taking the prototype add improving the graphics to a more ship-able state. It's exciting times for Trifoil! If you're interested it checking out an early build please get in touch.
