December 2025 Dev Log


Trifoil is a line drawing puzzle game with many twists. It's due to be released on itch.io and steam for Windows Q4 2026. In the mean time you can play the demo. Follow Trifoil development by following me on itch.io, x.com, bluesky or discord. With that out of the way enjoy the devlog.

I just shipped a pretty major update to the play-testers and am looking forward to the feedback. This update contains the first major visual improvement since the demo's release back in May 2025. There's new Hub and early game level backgrounds. These backgrounds are 3D so you will see a nice parallax effect. The new effects use Unity's VFX Graph which does it's calculations on the GPU, super efficient. So I have not noticed a drop in frame rate even though there's tens of thousands of particles begin calculated.

In other news plenty of new mechanics have been added.  Each one explores the core concept of the game: how a line can interact with it's self. It's always impresses me how much I discover about a mechanic while implementing it. Finding a new puzzles is a delight. I cannot wait to share them with the world. I prefer showing not telling. I hope to get Trifoil out by Q4 2026,but you know it might change  (: I do plan to release an updated demo at some point. More about that soon.
